About "Silver Sea Shell Panels"

This artwork consist of 3 separate panel paintings. Having a holiday home at the sea I always enjoy creating art with themes of the sea. I attended a craft class how to use "tin foil paper" as a medium and so I decided to combine the sea and silver. I love creating work with mixed medium and texture. The brown lines in these panels are created of sand and acrylic paint. The brown color and sand texture represent the rocks of the sea. The thin white and beige lines represents the waves and sand. I have used two shades of turquoise twirls to represent the moving water of the sea. Finally the shells that were created by the tin foil paper. With this technique I was able to create the textures of the shells. To round everything up I added silver twirls with fabric paint, also to give texture.

About Carolien

Carolien J v Rensburg

Through the eyes of an artist, the world and everything in it is a big painting. So it came, as my Mom tells the stories, I was two years old and drew big circles on her bedroom walls. I called it...Elephants. When I was four we visited the Kruger National Park and I drew all the animals that I saw.
In Primary School my favourite subject was Art. I participated in the Eisteddfod Awards each year, where I was awarded highest marks for my work. My main subject in High School was Art and I was one of the top Art students each year. I also participated in the yearly Rotary Club's Art Competition for Schools, where I also won prizes for my work.
By then it was quite clear what I wanted to become. I then enrolled at the College where I studied Art. Over the years I've done many oil paintings, pastel and pencil sketches, acrylic paintings, murals and graphic design projects. Creating art is my greatest passion and I'm so blessed with this wonderful talent.
