About "Tea Girl"

This is one of those lovely images I came across while travelling, as an artist one day I decided to paint that image which stuck inside my head to a blank canvas, then it became this wonderful artwork you see.

About Peter

Peter Sibanda

"I never considered myself an artist, but always knew that I have the ability to draw pictures, it is only when I was introduced to the artworks of Gerald Sekoto, Gorge Pemba and other artists at the Johannesburg Art gallery in 1987, I was inspired."

Born, 1972, Mabopane Northwest province, South Africa.
I am a full time Artist and a postage stamps designer for the South African Post office, I studied art part time at the Johannesburg art gallery from 1987 to 1989, from 1995 I studied fine art full time at the Open Window school of visual communication in Pretoria for three years (1995 to 1997) and obtained a diploma in fine arts and a certificate in visual communication, I began my art career as a full time artist in 1998.

As a Postage stamps designer.
In 2001 I was commissioned for the first time by the South African Post office to design the World summit postage stamp, a canceller and a commemorative envelope. Since 2001 I have designed more than 32 postage stamps, 6 commemorative envelopes and more than 14 cancellers. My last postage stamp designs for 2013 were the 19th World Transplant Games, held in Durban (South Africa) from July to August 2013, consist of 10 postage stamps, 2 commemorative envelopes and a canceller.
