About "The Guardian Sow | Fine Art Aluminum Giclée"

The Guardian Sow explores protection, presence and belonging through the quiet intimacy of a wild boar family.

At the centre rests the mother sow, surrounded by her young. Her body forms a protective structure around the piglets, creating a composition of quiet containment. Vulnerability and strength exist together: the piglets are held within the warmth and attention of their mother, not physically, but through her awareness and presence.

Painted in Leone Tonkinson's Solar Realism approach, the work explores how light, structure and relational tension reveal the inner life of a subject. The resting animals are rendered with layered oil techniques, subtle natural colour and finely observed detail, creating an atmosphere that is peaceful yet watchful.

The original painting has been sold.

This fine-art reproduction is presented as an 80 [0xC397] 120 cm Aluminum Dibond Gicl[0xC3A9]e, allowing the panoramic composition to retain its visual impact and fine detail at a substantial scale. The clean contemporary surface gives the work a strong architectural presence while preserving the warmth and intimacy of the original painting.

The Guardian Sow is particularly suited to collectors of wildlife and animal art and to interiors where natural materials, quiet colour and meaningful imagery are valued.

Each piece is individually signed by the artist and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

About Leone

Leone Tonkinson

Leone Tonkinson is a South African-born fine artist based in the Netherlands and founder of Solar Realism, a painting approach centred on the presence and character of natural light.

Working primarily in oils, she combines traditional layered painting techniques with close observation, creating still lifes, wildlife and botanical works marked by luminosity, quiet presence and finely observed detail.

Her South African roots and her life within the Dutch landscape both inform her work, bringing together warmth, nature and a strong sense of place. Rather than simply depicting a subject, Tonkinson seeks the moment when light, atmosphere and presence give it emotional resonance.

Her work is held in private collections and exhibited in the Netherlands and internationally.

Exhibitions

Leone Tonkinson has exhibited in both South Africa and Europe, with recent exhibitions in the Netherlands. Her work is held in private collections internationally.

She is the founder of Solar Realism, a painting approach that explores light not simply as illumination, but as an active presence within the subject. Through traditional layered oil-painting techniques, careful observation and controlled natural light, form, atmosphere and emotional presence emerge together.

Her work applies this approach to still life, wildlife and the natural world, where reflected light, transparency, texture and subtle shifts in colour become part of the subject itself.

Education

Formal training in architecture, design, and classical oil
