About "The Parted"
When I was making this artwork, I was trying to honour my "gogo" (Ndebele for "granny"). She was a loving individual who welcomed guests into our home from different parts of Africa, and the feeling I had while I was drawing this piece was of eternal love and security. The concept of ancestors is beyond mere belief as it considered knowledge in my culture. While she was alive, she would kneel with us, every now and then, at the garden, with some snuff and African beer in an effort to communicate with our ancestors. I, however, now find it easier to communicate and to send vibrations to her through art.
My artwork is inspired by such topics as limbig-resonance, co-existence, spiritaulism and co-existence among living beings, in all their different forms.I am moved deeply by the consumption and elimination of animals by us as human being.
