Gwynneth van Jaarsveld - "The Wave"
Print on Canvas
W: 1220mm x H: 910mm
This work is unframed
About "The Wave"
The original work was based on an imagined barrelling left hand point break wave in a place like Fiji or Tahiti and is what surfers would call a wave of consequence due to the shallow reefs and sharp corals right under the surface. This print is the same as the original size, but please enquire if you would like a different size.
As an artist, I am inspired by the fact that our world did not just spontaneously come about. It was thoughtfully and lovingly designed and made for us. I like to see myself an "observer of beauty" and this is where all my creations originate. Something else that influences my work is that I have a visual impairment. Stargard's Dystrophy is a retinal condition that causes loss of central vision. I have to get real close to objects and images to observe detail. I believe that people overlook detail and beauty in the rush of their daily lives. I would like to inspire my audience to stop, look and recognize the fingerprints of our Creator on the world around them, and also on themselves.
