On 4th August 2013 i came across the first ever Sanlam Portrait Competition, & was immediately inspired to enter, however i saw the entries has to be in 5th-19th Aug, and i paint in Oils! Still i felt i could do it, & had been thinking of doing a portrait of Mandela for a while, so the inspiration flowed, it was still a little wet when i had to hand it in on the 19th..but i love the energy of the picture.
It is a Soul Portrait, and includes not only his upbringing in the Transkei, but his Chinese sign of the horse gallops (on the side), His Crab Sun Sign crawls up the beach towards the children of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund who are throwing the logo in the air, the scales of Justice on his tie represent his law career, & achievement of opening the 1st black owned law firm in SA. The fierce Moon in Scorpio is seen above the mountains, that said enough is enough! The President's Crest adorns his jacket. The World Globe shows his enormous reach, the saintly glow around his head needs no explanation. He transformed himself, transformed South Africa, & his forgiveness inspired the World.

I have used the pseudenym Shan for my paintings since i was 12 years old.
My passions are art, building design and renovating, though i am best known for my work as a Feng Shui Design Consultant, and have consulted on buildings all over South Africa.
Psychology fascinates me, Astrology, Numerology, and the beauty of the human form pushed to its limits.
My mission is to create beauty, and harmony, and inspire others to fulfill their potential.
My souls gift is creativity; perfectionism, it has left a mark on the world for many centuries, but this time my art is an enjoyable pastime, which i have decided to share with the world once again...
My art work has been shown in England, at Galleries in Cape Town, and toured at a Wildlife expo around South Africa.
The few commissions i have undertaken are in private and business collections in England and South Africa.
I have been interviewed in magazines, Newspapers, on Radio stations, and on Television (SABC 3) in South Africa about my work as a Feng Shui Design Consultant, and the psychological effects of colour.
