About Adriaan

The photo shows Adriaan painting at the Centurion shopping mall, entertaining thousands of onlookers.
Since his earliest days he has been inspired by the beauty in nature and in people.
He grew up as the son of a forester at Blyde, near Graskop and was educated at Sabie, Sybrand Van Niekerk High School. Studied Banking diploma and Computer science. Worked most of his life as a software developer and parttime artist ; Now fulltime artist.
The influence of the serenity of the forests and waterfalls where he grew up can still be felt when you speak to this artist.
Started painting with water colors at the age of 8 years old.
Several teachers actually commissioned him to paint or draw subjects while at school
He loves to present South African Landscapes and wildlife as well as flowers. His paintings of our main landmarks have been sold to collectors worldwide.
Colourful presentation is always his aim.
The Norwegian master Gunnar Marby met Adriaan at Art in the Park in Pietermaritzburg and promptly realised his potential as an artist. He was invited for advanced master classes with Gunnar and gladly accepted. This Adriaan refers to as the spice added to his education.

Exhibited extensively country wide in, Roodepoort City Hall, Florida, Pretoria (Several Venues), Pietermaritzburg , Durban art Society and Cape Town and many private exhibitions.
Served on West Rand Art Society's management commitee.

Self taught and one year under the Grand Master Gunnar Marby.
