About "Windmill Karoo"
There is something sad about a windmill silouetted against a Karoo skyline.Yet the windmill has been a sign, landmark and lifeline of hope to many farmers and different cultures. It symbolizes pride, perseverance, humility and courage to not give up in tough times and therefore has an unique strength of it's own.The thought that it fetches life giving water from 300 m below the earth's surface to sustain crops and cattle, inspired me to paint this humble, yet impressive landmark.I also love the beauty of the clouds at sunset,as if God raked the clouds while passing by.
About Ben van Eck
I'm inspired by colour, spaces, contrasts, in nature, in patterns and shapes and sizes. I enjoy the natural elements, the seasons and nature itself. I love sunrises and sunsets and wide open spaces, fields and the countryside. I want to tell the world that there is hope and love in abundance if we open our eyes and ears and hearts to receive it. I have been enjoying painting and drawing pictures even from before school and once got a hiding as a kid from my dad for drawing pictures on the kitchen wall tiles with a blue marker.
