About Daniel

I was born in Bloemfontein in 1942 and started drawing pictures before I went to school.
In 1955, when I was 13 years old, I attended art classes in Pretoria at the Pretoria Art Center, which was then managed by the late Walter Batiss. After school I did my military in 1961 and then qualified as a geologist at the University of Stellenbosch. Then I worked for Tsumeb Corporation in Southwest Africa (present day Namibia), the Industrial Development Corporation in Johannesburg and retired to work as a consultant in 1999.
I started painting with oil and acrylic eight years ago and aim to use only the primary colours, i.e. yellow, red (magenta) and blue (cyan) as I believe that a true artist should be able to mix any colour from the primaries. I love nature and try to paint as natural as possible.
