About "Brushstroke Symphony"

"Brushstroke Symphony" is a stunning 40x50 acrylic painting that captivates the viewer with its dynamic composition of warm hues and expressive brush strokes. The predominantly pale, off-white background serves as a canvas for a mesmerizing display of colors and forms. The left side of the painting features a vibrant aggregation of dark, concentrated colors, creating a fish-like form with sweeping lines and speckles of paint that suggest movement and fluidity. On the right, softer and more diffuse applications of paint hint at additional forms or reflections of the prominent motif. Throughout the piece, elements of dripping paint, splatters, and intentional or incidental markings add texture and a sense of spontaneity. The overall effect is an evocative play of abstraction, color, and motion, showcasing the artist's skillful manipulation of space and leaving a lasting impression on the viewer.
This abstract painting, titled Feathered Friends, measures 40x50cm and was created using acrylic medium. The artwork features a whirl of vibrant colors amidst a predominantly pale, cream-colored background. Thick, textured strokes of black, blue, orange, green, and hints of purple are concentrated in two areas, creating centers of intense color that seemingly burst or splash outward. Expressive drips and splatters contribute to the dynamic, energetic feel of the composition. The artist has used a variety of marks, including sweeping gestures and more precise, linear scribbles, which add depth and movement to the work.

About Liz

Liz McQueen

I have no previous painting experience and only became involved with this wonderful world after retirement. I was fortunate enough to meet Estelle Hartley and to be taught by her for 6 years. Colour has always been my passion. I have had several successful exhibitions locally and have been a member of several Art Associations through the years and have served on several art committes . I have attended many workshops including those of Rose Eden and Don Andrews from the USA and Hazel Soan from Britain, locally workshops by Greg Kerr, Louis Audie, Deric van Rensburg, Bob MacKenzie, Cheryl Curnick and several others.
In 2012 I attended a workshop in Spain by Fabio Cembranelli. This year 2013 I have had a very successful exhibition in Bahrain.
Thanks to the support of Rob, my husband I am able to do this wonderful thing!
Painting is an act of creation and interpretation of subjects should be from the heart.
Edgar Whitney's quotation "Exactly right is all wrong" is my mantra.
