About "Grazing Zebra"

I have owned this slab of Jacaranda for some years when it was a counter top in a previous life. So I was pleased to use it for one of the favorite images that I have taken. She fits so perfectly into the photo frame and with a little stretching and pushing she has happily settled into this piece of timber. I would love to see her grazing in the main room of a game lodge but I'm sure she will be content wherever she lives, forever chomping on sweet grass.
The wood shows a little worm damage near the bark from way back but has been treated against insects and will not suffer further borer damage. The image has been sealed and waxed. 3 hanging inserts have been let into the back.

About Roy

Roy Gibbs

Originally from Ipswich in the UK, I emigrated in 1979, working for a British company, and remained here in this beautiful, exciting country ever since. I live on the edge of the Moot valley with a vista of the Magaliesberg mountains and a garden full of birds. Karee, Hookthorn and Pink Ivory trees grow around the house, Stamvrug and Milkwood on the hillslopes behind us.
I have been woodturning for 25 years and in the last few years I have been incorporating pyrography into my work to the extent that my turning is becoming incorporated into my pyrography. It delights me that I can combine my love of wildlife with working with wood and that I can see so many avenues to explore in the future. Finding ways to combine these 2 skills into desirable art work is a very fulfilling occupation. I hope you enjoy what you see and I welcome any comments, complimentary or not.
