About "Serenity"

...moving back from the bustling city of johannesburg, I realized that the Serenity of the setting i now, once again dwell in, is one of my greatest assets. It has instilled peace and forgiveness within me, resulting in Love ...for Life.
The subject, Frans, is a kind, humble soul who's Love for nature and all that dwell within, exudes from his hands as it reflects in his eyes.
This contemporary/classic piece is incredibly striking in that it boasts a variety of styles, all Oil paint - Oil & turpentine wash for the hat (giving a water paint effect), a soft/fine(realistic) technique on face (photographic effect) and palette knife used for the collar and white background (stucco plaster effect).
Also, a gloss finish over the face, further brings this portrait to life.
May it bring "Serenity" to the setting it finds itself in.
