About Michiel

I specialize in commissioned work where clients expect something very special, for example for doctor surgeries, beauty salons, farm scenes, cars, animals, sea scenes, holiday memories and more. Feel free to contact me for your special painting.
Michiel is a self-taught artist from Port Elizabeth, South Africa. He works primarily in oils. He's had several solo exhibitions over a period of 35 years. He did many commissioned artworks to the satisfaction of his clients. His paintings are complimenting many homes throughout South Africa and the rest of the world.

Over the years he has built a good name for himself as an artist. Recently, his works were chosen to be exhibited in a group exhibition in America.

Artist view point

I am a narrative painter. I love to do paintings that tells a story. I want my paintings to awaken memories and relate to the viewer through familiar sensations. I have a modern approach through the use of expressive brush strokes and palette knife painting techniques. I like rich, warm colours.

I don't try to change the world with my paintings. Instead I aim to create paintings that touch people's emotions and hearts.
