About Hilary

Capturing contrasting light and mood is my intention, and the subject matter is varied, from figure studies, portraits and contemporary landscapes as well as ethnically inspired works.
I use fluid paint to start the painting, creating a very random and uncontrolled beginning and then I start to build up the images, layering them until the image is what I am after, and sometimes using a palette knife as well. I enjoy not having control over everything, and allowing the work to dictate my direction.
