About "Oedipus at Home"
I started with a monotype of a large nude on a couch or bed and then got into the idea of two figures being pushed into the corner, compositionally, with other elements and images taking centre stage. Balancing this dominance is a lot of attention on the figures. I liked the two figures and their not-quite erotic interaction so decided to give them a not-quite kosher identity. Oedipus is a favourite character in my painting because he gets himself into the same trouble my images do. Only, I clobber my characters with heavy glazes.
