Greg Kerr - "Parmigianino"
W: 170mm x H: 275mm
Approx. Weight: 0.1kg
This work is framed (but can be supplied either framed or unframed)
One of a series of small, intimate images taken from a wide range of random sources. I was interested in the small, theatrical world of the Quattrocento and Mannerist painters, hence the title of this little piece. The subject also gains, I think, from the fact that there is suggestion without too much amplification.
Gregory Kerr: Born in 1949 and educated at Wits University, Johannesburg College of Education, Unisa and the University of Georgia. Was involved in formal art education from 1973 till 2000 when he resigned from his post as Professor in Fine Arts at the University of Stellenbosch. Since then has been painting full time and giving private art tuition to specialist groups in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Franschhoek, Plettenberg Bay and Port Elizabeth. His work ranges from the satirical (small drawings done in informal situations) to the monumental (large paintings of people and animals). Represented in numerous private and corporate collections in South Africa and abroad.
Eighteen solo exhibitions since 1982. Most recent at I-Art, Cape Town and David Brown, Johannesburg in 2008. Numerous group exhibitions.
