About Deon

Deon is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

Deon matriculated in 1979 from the Johannesburg School for Art, Ballet and Music, now known as the School of Performing Arts in Parktown. After attending the school for 5 years, Deon was awarded with 2 distinctions in sculpture and painting. In his final year, Deon was made Head Boy for the School.
After leaving school, Deon studied Graphics Art at Pretoria Technicon and completed 1 year of basic training in this field. After returning from his military service in 1983, Deon joined an advertising agency and is at present still in this line of work, but his love for sculpture and painting is still very strong and he uses every free moment he has, to pursue his love for art.
He has extensive knowledge in oil and acrylic painting. He has tried his hand at wax sculpture and wood carving. He loves nature and the outdoors and he gets his insperation from the beauty of our country. He loves painting scense that have open spaces filled with sunlight, shadows and earth colours. He needs to capture the feel and the mood of the setting, so that the viewer can relate to the scence. He has a passion for unique settings and he is always on the look out for that special scene.
In the 1980’s he was a regular at the Johannesburg Art in the Park, were he exhibited his paintings and sold some of best work.
