What is so amazing about Grace? Philip Yancey discusses grace, calling it "our last best word"
Yancey quotes Christian counselor David Seamands: "The two major causes of most emotional problems is the failure to understand, receive and live out God's unconditional grace and forgiveness; and the failure to give out that unconditional love, forgiveness, and grace to other people".
I have found that the more grace I receive for myself and the more I am able to forgive myself, the more I can forgive others. This has been the hardest lesson to learn: that I can forgive myself, because I have been forgiven. Therefore I can forgive others.
Its not to say that I get it right. There is still blades cutting my heart open, blades of old words and old bad friendships. Sometimes I bleed. Sometimes I rage...but grace is endless.

About Leonie
How I Create
The brightness of oils is mixed with the soft translucency of encaustics (wax), and creates hidden messages and layers below. The layering gives the work a softness and richness that invites the viewer to look closer and to experience the satin-smooth surface through touch. The wax layers get more and more translucent through the warmth emanating from the exploring human hand. The viewer becomes a part of the slow change and clarity of the painting...as if the message is rising from the depth of the hidden soul to the surface of the mind. There is a strange ethereal beauty to these paintings, as if made from air.
