"Red light"

For many, the lily holds special symbolic and even religious connotations, hence its popularity when it comes to an artists choice of subject matter. In Red Light, Li has opted for her own unique depiction, as the lilies loose their traditionally orange stamens to become red. For those who enjoy unraveling the symbology in paintings, the red of the lilies carries huge significance. It is wonderfully contrasted with the pure white of the lilies, making this a work to ponder.
