"Water Ruler" is a stunning work if you’re looking for something that is fresh and different. It shows an old sepia map out of which a realistic fish swims towards the viewer. Below the fish a tape measure in true fisherman’s style seeks to keep score of the size of the catch, while above a shocking turquoise drips through the painting. As to its deeper symbolic significance – the answer eludes me. Take a look and see what you make of it.
